WATERTOWN - The Watertown girls soccer team scored three first-half goals that propelled the Goslings to a 4-0 win Friday over Monroe, which remains winless in the Badger South Conference.
With the loss, Monroe drops to 3-6-1 overall and 0-4-1 in conference play.
"We had some opportunities against Watertown," Monroe coach Kyle Kasten said. "The Watertown defenders did a very good job of not giving up on a play if one of our players got behind them. They didn't give us any shots uncontested."
Watertown scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead.
"We made some minor foundational adjustments," Kasten said. "We talked about making just one or two touches, moving off the ball and talking. The girls left everything they had out on the field."
This isn't the first time the Cheesemakers have been shut out this season and wins have been hard to achieve. Kasten said Oregon, Milton and Madison Edgewood are still three of the top teams in the conference. He was also impressed by the Goslings.
"They are a very skilled and well coached team," he said. "They are talented and have a hard-working team. They are a good addition to the conference."
