HIGHLAND - Senior Alexis Goecks went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles to power the Juda-Albany softball team to a 13-1 win over Highland on Thursday.
Junior Sammi Detra went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Juda-Albany (21-2, 14-1 Six Rivers East) scored at least one run every inning except for the sixth inning. Detra blasted a solo home run in the Panthers' three-run fourth that extended the lead to 7-0.
"Offensively, it was a great game," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "We were hitting the ball very well. We took advantage of some walks. It gets us headed in the right direction toward the playoffs."
Junior Nicki Becker pitched a perfect game to get the win. She was dominant giving up just one unearned run on two hits. She struck out 16 and walked none.
"She had everything working," Davis said. "She got ahead in some counts and really took charge."
Belmont 6, Monticello 0
MONTICELLO - Monticello had just four hits and Belmont shut down the Ponies en route to the victory.
Belmont jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning. The Braves sealed the win with a four-run fifth.
Monticello freshman Miah Brokopp tossed a complete game. She gave up two earned runs on 10 hits, struck out one and walked four. The Ponies committed two of their four errors on dropped third strikes. Monticello seniors Chandler Hanson and Jessie Garrison each had one hit as did sophomores Hannah Zanow and Claire Klossner.
"We hit the ball against their pitcher, but it was right at them every time," Monticello coach Duane Garrison said. "We had our opportunities, but we couldn't come up with the big hit."
Argyle 7, Benton- ShullsbURG 3
ARGYLE - Senior Kayla Butler-Paulson went 2-for-4 with three RBI to lead the Orioles to a win over Benton-Shullsburg.
Benton-Shullsburg led 3-0 after four innings. Argyle (13-10, 6-7 Six Rivers East) rallied with a three-run fifth and a four-run sixth to win the game.
Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said the Orioles relaxed the third time through the batting order.
"I just think it took us a while to time her up," Ganshert said, referring to Benton-Shullsburg pitcher Hattie Rennert. "Once we did, they hit the ball really well."
Argyle junior Ashley Bruehlman went 2-for-3 with one RBI, and sophomore Kirsten Ostby went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI. Sophomore Alysabeth Lanz was also 2-for-3.
Argyle junior Kaylie Berget started in the circle and went two innings. She gave up one run on four hits and walked one. Junior Taylor Mathys pitched five innings in relief to get the win. She gave up two runs on four hits, struck out one and walked one.
Ganshert said it was Argyle's first game without an error this season.
