Goecks, Juda-Albany topple Black Hawk

GRATIOT - Junior Alexis Goecks had four hits to lift the Juda-Albany softball team to a 9-2 win over Black Hawk on Tuesday.

Juda-Albany (4-2, 3-0 Six Rivers East) scored two runs off Black Hawk senior pitcher Rachel Ritschard in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.

The Panthers scored three runs in the sixth to extend their lead to 7-1.

Goecks went 4-for-5 to lead the Panthers. Juda-Albany junior Sayde McDermitt was 3-for-4 with a double.

Juda-Albany sophomore pitcher Nicki Becker tossed a complete game to get the win. She gave up one earned run on four hits. Becker struck out nine and walked one.

Ritschard also went the distance pitching seven innings. She gave up six earned runs on 12 hits. Ritschard struck out four and walked three.

Black Hawk sophomore Hannah Herbst went 2-for-2 to lead the Warriors.



Luther Prep 4, New Glarus 3

WATERTOWN - New Glarus scored two runs in its final at-bat in the seventh inning but the Glarner Knights came up just short against Watertown Luther Prep.

Luther Prep scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to seal the win. New Glarus senior Noelle Austin went 2-for-3, and junior teammate Maya Kramer was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Teammate Grace Moen went 2-for-4 with one RBI to help lead the Knights' nine-hit attack.

New Glarus senior Jessica Van Dusen pitched 62⁄3 innings. She didn't allow an earned run. All four runs that scored were unearned on six hits. Van Dusen struck out seven and walked one.
