NEW GLARUS - A first-quarter lead for the New Glarus Glarner Knights couldn't hold up against Barneveld as New Glarus lost to the Eagles, 59-36 in non-conference girls basketball action Tuesday.

New Glarus led 14-12 after the first quarter, but could only manage to scored 22 points the rest of the way.

"Barneveld played their game. They wanted it more and we lacked focus," New Glarus head coach Braden Rindy said.

Only four players scored for New Glarus, led by seniors Alycia Atwell and Tanya Gruter with 13 points. Senior Alissa Siegenthaler scored seven points and senior Michelle Preston added three points for New Glarus (2-3, 0-1 Six Rivers East).

Dammen had eight points for the Orioles (1-4, 0-2 Six Rivers East). Senior Jackie Dammen was the high scorer for Argyle with 10 points.

Argyle will travel to Hazel Green Tuesday to play Southwestern.
