SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk girls basketball team kept its unbeaten season intact with a 51-39 win over River Ridge on Saturday.
Black Hawk (12-0, 5-0 Six Rivers East), ranked second in the Associated Press Division 4 state poll, raced to a 17-10 first-quarter lead. The Warriors led by nine points at halftime and never trailed.
Black Hawk senior Paige Butler scored a game-high 15 points and nailed three 3-pointers. Melissa Wellnitz, Kim Wellnitz and Katie Place added seven points each for the Warriors.
BARNEVELD 59, JUDA 22
JUDA - The Barneveld girls basketball team is on a crash course with Black Hawk for a Six Rivers East Conference title after the Golden Eagles routed Juda .
Barneveld, ranked seventh in Division 4, outscored the Panthers 23-4 in the second quarter and led by 30 points at halftime.
Juda junior Heather Boeke led the Panthers with seven points and freshman Ellen Kiser added six. With the loss, Juda falls to 6-5 and 1-4.
