GRESHAM - The Juda girls basketball team opened the Gresham Holiday tournament Monday by pounding Oneida Nation, 60-26.

Juda junior Heather Boeke scored a game-high 20 points. The Panthers had two other players in double figures, including CJ Dunwiddie (11 points) and Katy Knudtson (10).

Juda (3-2, 1-2 Six Rivers East) broke the game open in the second quarter by outscoring Oneida Nation 18-7 and building a 27-14 halftime lead.

The Panthers' lead ballooned to 24 points with a 14-3 third-quarter run.

MINERAL POINT 47, PECATONICA 45

BLANCHARDVILLE - The Pecatonica girls basketball team battled back from an eight-point halftime deficit, but lost in its Pecatonica Holiday Tournament opener.

"It was anyone's game going into the fourth quarter," Pecatonica coah Mike Armitage said. "Each possession seemed like it was bigger. I was pleased with the fight the kids showed in the second half."

Armitage said any time a team gives up 20 points in a quarter, it puts it behind the eight-ball.

Armitage wasn't happy with a 28-20 halftime deficit.

"We didn't take advantage of some of the things they were giving us, bottom line," Armitage said. "We weren't very disciplined."

With the loss, Pecatonica drops to 5-2 overall (2-1 Six Rivers East).

The Vikings were led by junior Kimee Chandler, who scored a game-high 20 points and senior Brittany Kent who added 14.

The Vikings host Weston at 6 p.m. today, while Mineral Point plays Markisan at 7:30 p.m.

ALBANY 46, ARGYLE 37

ARGYLE - Albany made its free throws when it counted most to pull out a Six Rivers East Conference win in a game rescheduled from Dec. 9.

Argyle (0-7, 0-3 Six Rivers East) cut the Comets' lead to two points, but couldn't get over the hump. The Comets made 11 of 18 free throws.

"They (Albany) just made their free throws down the stretch," Argyle coach Stephen Dammen said. "We just couldn't close the gap."

Albany (5-4, 2-2) was led by senior Tiffany Thompson's game-high 12 points. Sophomore Sydney Bump added nine points and senior Nicolette Blumer chipped in eight.

Senior Kelsey Ostby led Argyle with 11 points and Sierra Granberg added seven.
