BRODHEAD - The Brodhead girls basketball team pounded Evansville 62-24 Tuesday night as the Cardinals try to keep pace with Orfordville Parkview in the hunt for a Rock Valley Conference title.
Brodhead (7-2, 6-1) overwhelmed Evansville from the start, outscoring them 17-7 in the first quarter and building a 40-16 halftime lead.
Senior Kristen Ruchti and junior Dana Lewis each scored 17 points for the Cardinals.
SHULLSBURG 38, ALBANY 37
SHULLSBURG - The Comets couldn't overcome struggles from the free throw line.
Albany (6-5, 3-2 Six Rivers East Conference) made only 9 of 20 foul shots in the non-conference loss.
The Comets led 33-26 after the third quarter, but couldn't hang on to the lead. Shullsburg outscored the Comets 12-4 in the decisive fourth quarter.
The Comets were led by sophomore Hayli Peach and senior Nicolette Blumer, who each scored a team-high nine points.
