Gems shine in meet

MONROE - The Green County Gems gymnastics team won team championships at Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Xcel-Platnium levels Saturday at the "Stars of the Future" meet at the Green County YMCA.

There were about 150 gymnasts competing on the uneven bars, vault, balance beam and on the floor. The proceeds from the meet go to the Green County YMCA Gymnastics program. Dawn Lederman, the gymnastics program director, said they were hoping to raise about $4,000. The YMCA recently purchased uneven bars for about $8,000 and had them installed in December in time for the meet.

"We have never done this before," Lederman said of winning four team trophies. "It's a huge accomplishment."

The Level 1 gymnasts were led by Raevynn Jackson, 7, who finished first place on the uneven bars (9.5), first on the beam (9.05), first on the vault (9.5) and second place on the floor. She won the all-around competition (37.05). Katelyn Kleeman, 6, took second place on the bars (9.2), second on the beam (8.8), second on the floor (9.05) and second on the vault (9.2). Annabelle Wortman, 10, finished first on the beam (9.4) and first in the all-around competition (37.7). She added third-place finishes on the bars (9.5) and the floor (9.5). Kaylyn Albert, 10, took first place on the floor (9.6), and first on the vault (9.4). She was second place on the beam (9.2) and second-place all-around (37.5).

Kaegann Paulson, 7, had an impressive meet for the Level 3 Gems. Paulson won three events including the beam (9), floor (9.2) and the vault (9). She took second-place all-around (35.2). Sophia McGuire, 8, finished first all-around (35.25). McGuire had three other second-place finishes including the bars (8.9), beam (8.7) and floor (8.7). Melanie Westgard, 8, finished first place on the beam (9.65) and second on the vault (9.3), while Makayla Eddy took second on the bars (9.55) and third all-around (37).

In the Level 2 competition, Kennadee Johnson, 7, had a big day for the Gems. Johnson took first place on the bars (9.4), first on the floor (9.2), first on the vault and finished first in the all-around competition (37.1). She added a second-place finish on the beam (9.3). Kate Kundert, 8, finished first on the bars (9.1), first on the beam (9.2), first on the floor (9.45) and first all-around (37.25. She added a second place on the vault (9.5).

Maddie Davis, 8, took second on the floor (8.95) and third place on the beam (8.9) and third on the floor (9.35). Morgan Kleeman, 9, won the beam (9.4) and finished first-place all-around (36.6). She added second-place finishes on the floor (9.1) and vault (9.3). Katrina Sathoff, finished second place on the beam (9), second all-around (36.4) and third place on the floor (9.05) and vault (9.25). Hailey Thompson, 9, won the bars (9.3) and took first on the floor (9.2).

In the 10-year-old Level 2 division, Jessy Ruckman won the bars (9.1) and took second place on the beam (9), floor (9) and vault (9.25). Ruckman finished second-place all-around (36.35). Morgan Schneeberger, 11, won the bars (9.4) and was first-place all-around (37.55). She took second place on the floor (9.25) and second on the vault (9.6). Schneeberger added a third-place finish on the beam (9.3). Kyla Ziolkowski finished first on the vault (9.65). Vaughn Barker, 11, took second place on the bars (9.35)), second on the beam (9.45), second all-around (37.4) and third place on the vault (9.55). Emily Hazzard, 11, added a third place on the floor (9.15). Tess Nafzger, 12, won the beam (9.5) and took third place on the bars (9.2), while Gwen Jamison, 13, won the floor (9.6) and was third all-around (37.2).

In the 10-year-old Level 3 competition, Ripplee Dunlavey won the all-around competition (37.05) and three other events including the bars (9.2), the beam (9.2) and the floor (9.45). She took second (9.2) on the floor. Karis Paulson took second on the bars (9.1), second on the floor (9.2) and third all-around (35.2). Sierra McGuire finished second on the beam (8.95) and third all-around (35.3), while Reagun Buhlmann took second on the bars (9.1).

In the 9-year-old, Level 1 competition, Desirae Signer took first on the floor (9.6), second on the beam (9.2) and third place in the all-round competition (37). Kaylea Paulson, 11, won the all-around (37.25) and three individual events including the bars (9.4), beam (9.35) and floor (9.3). She also took second place on the vault (9.2). Jill Marty, 11, won the vault (9.4) and took second place on the bars (9.05) and floor (9.1). She finished second-place all-around (36.35). Maddie Deegan, 11, took second on the beam (9.25), second on the vault (9.2) and third all-around (36.05). Maddison Markham, 12, won the beam (8.8) and was second-place all-around (34.95). She took second place on the bars (9), and floor (8.75), while Lizzie Snider, 12, finished second on the vault (9.1) and third on the floor (8.7).

Heather Burkhalter, 13, won the all-around competition for Level 4 (32.55). Burkhalter won the beam (8.4) and took second place on the bars (8.1), floor (8.05) and vault (8). Teammate Bri Seagreaves, 13, won the bars (8.2) and took first place on the floor (8.35). She took second-place all-around (32.45) and was second on the beam (8).

In the Xcel Platinum level, Faith Koester, 13, won the all-around competition (34.1). Koester won the bars (8.1) and the vault (8.9). Koester took second place on the floor (9.2) third on the beam (7.9). Lizzy Brennan, 15, won the beam (8.8) and floor (9.25). She took second-place all-around (34.05). Josie Eberle, 16, finished first place in the Level 8 all-around competition (33.05). Eberle won three other events including beam (8.85), floor (8.3) and vault (8.3). She added a second-place on the bars (7.6).
