Gem gymnasts win state honors

MONROE - The Level 2 and Level 3 Green County Gems gymnastics teams each won state championships at the YMCA state meet Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 in Sturgeon Bay.

Emily Hazzard, 9, won a state championship in the all-around competition in Level 2 with a score of 36.75. She also was a state champion on the vault (9.275). Hazzard finished second on the uneven bars (9.225) and second on the beam (9.2).

Teammate Jessy Ruckman, 8, won a state title on the bars (9.375) and the beam (9.25). She took third place on the beam (9.225).

Also in Level 2, Breanna Giasson, 8, finished first on the vault (9.275) and second in the all-around competition (36.525).

Sophia McGuire, 6, took second place all-around (36.925) and third on the bars (9.4) and beam (9.35).

Lily Bobak, 8, took second on the floor (9.1).

Kyla Ziolkowski, 9, finished third on the bars (9.125) and third on the beam (9.075).



Level 3

In the Level 3 competition at state, Lizzie Brennan, 13, won the all-around (37.2) and took first on the floor (9.425). She finished second on the bars (9.45) and third on the vault (9.45).

Ripplee Dunlavey, 8, was a state champion on the floor (9.425) and on the beam (9.15). She finished second in the all-around (36.65) and third on the bars (9.2).

Karis Paulson, 8, took second in the vault (9.45) and third on the bars (9.2).

Jill Marty, 9, finished third on the floor (9.3) and Maddison Markham, 10, was third on the floor (9.025).



Level 4

Faith Koester, 11, won a Level 4 state championship in the all-around (37.225) and was the champion on the vault (9.375). She finished second on the beam (9.325) and third on the bars (9.375).

Maggie Setterstrom, 12, won the floor (9.25) and was second all-around (36.275).

Kaylea Paulson, 9, was second on the beam (9.25).

In the Xcel optional level, Meredith Hose, 13, won the beam (9.35) and she took second all-around (36.375).

Makayla Phillips, 13, finished third on the vault (9.25).
