BELOIT - The University School of Milwaukee handed the Rock County Fury girls hockey co-op its first loss of the season Tuesday, a 4-3 decision in the Rock County home opener.
Milwaukee got on the scoreboard first in the opening period. Monroe freshman Anika Einbeck scored her first goal of the season on assists by Monroe junior Cammi Ganshert and Anne Runke to tie the game at 1.
However, Milwaukee outscored the Fury 3-1 in the second period to take a commanding 4-2 lead. Dani Heitsman scored on a pass from Maggie Henschler for Rock County's second goal.
It was a back-and-forth third period, with Henschler scoring on a power-play with nine seconds left in the game. The goal was assisted by Runke and Einbeck.
With the loss, the Rock County Fury drop to 3-1-1.
McKaylie Buescher recorded 30 saves for the Fury.
