ARGYLE - "You'll never get a better chance to win a nice gun," Dan "Ducky" Duckwitz said, a board member of the Argyle Rod & Gun Club. He was referring to the 6th Annual Shoot it Down event, Saturday, Sept. 18 at the club range on Wisconsin 81 between Argyle and Monroe.

Unlimited sporting clays, trap and skeet shooting will take place between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"We've got a lot of nice guns and a limited number of tickets available so the chances of winning are high," Duckwitz said.

There is no limit, however, in the amount of shooting participants are allowed.

The ticket price of $200 includes hors d'oeuvres throughout the day, a variety of beverages and a steak dinner in the evening. Ticket holders are also entered in a drawing for one of 10 firearms. The purchaser need not be present to win.

"We had over 80 people come in last year," said Mike Pederson, Rod & Gun Club President.

Accord-ing to him, participants come from as far away as Waukesha in Wisconsin and from Illinois and Minnesota.

"Every-body always has a good time," Pederson added.

The numbers in 2009 were down slightly from the year before, largely due to the economy, officials believe. "We used to have a group come in from GM," said club member Bob Wesenberg. "They no longer come; they don't have jobs."

The Argyle R&G Club offers a superb course layout in a scenic location with rolling terrain among wooded hillsides centered on a beautiful clubhouse. State-of-the-art launchers offer the marksman many unique presentations in a safe and well-maintained course. Call Mike at 543-3781 for ticket info.
