SOUTH WAYNE - The freshman duo of Natalie Leuzinger and Hannah Butler combined to hit seven 3-pointers and score 42 points to lead the Black Hawk girls basketball team to a 64-32 win over Belmont Thursday.
Both Leuzinger and Butler scored a game-high 21 points.
The Warriors made 10 three-pointers as a team and shot 10 of 18 from 3-point range. Leuzinger drilled four 3-pointers and Butler hit three 3-pointers.
"That's obviously a good night shooting," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "We are still at the point of the season where we are setting our rotations. We still have a lot to work on."
Black Hawk (2-0) made 2 of 10 free throws.
Caitlyn Gilbertson scored a 10 points to lead the Braves.
Black Hawk will open Six Rivers East Conference play at Juda on Dec. 8.
"Juda has a really good team," Flanagan said. "That will tell us a lot about where we are in the race for the conference."
New Glarus 48, Columbus 46
COLUMBUS - Junior Willow Lee scored a team-high 16 points to lift the Glarner Knights to a comeback win over Columbus.
The Knights trailed by one point at the half, 20-19. However, New Glarus outscored the Cardinals 29-26 in the second half to pull out the win.
