SOUTH WAYNE - Freshman Hannah Butler tossed a no-hitter to lead Black Hawk to a 9-1 win over Monticello on Monday.
Butler pitched a complete game, struck out seven and walked five.
"Butler pitched a great game," Black Hawk coach Jim Baumgartner said. "She started the fourth off with two walks. I called time and settled her down and got her mind off of it, and she struck out the next three batters. She's doing a great job for us as a freshman. The mental toughness will come with more age."
Black Hawk senior Jordyn Delzer went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The Warriors scored three runs in the first inning and broke the game open with a six-run third. Black Hawk junior Hannah Herbst went 2-for-2 with one RBI and junior Cheyenne Stewart was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Monticello freshman pitcher Miah Brokopp pitched six innings and gave up four earned runs on nine hits. She struck out three and walked five.
Juda-Albany 11,
Argyle 1 (5)
JUDA - Junior Sammi Detra hit the first home run of her high school career as the Juda-Albany softball team rolled over Argyle.
Detra hit a solo home run in the Panthers' five-run fifth inning and had two RBI. Juda-Albany (14-2, 10-1 Six Rivers East) pounded out 13 hits. Junior Haley Freitag went 3-for-3 and senior Alexis Goecks was 3-for-4. Junior Nicki Becker went 2-for-3 with two RBI and senior Sara Jordan also drove in two runs.
Becker pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up one run on two hits, struck out five and walked three.
"We had talked about getting back to some basic things like keeping your head down and getting on top of the ball," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said.
Argyle junior Ashley Bruehlman had an RBI single in the first to give the Orioles a short-lived 1-0 lead. The Panthers answered with one run in the bottom of the first. Juda-Albany took control with a four-run fourth to take a 6-1 lead.
Argyle junior Kaylie Berget pitched four innings and gave up six runs on eight hits. She struck out one and walked two.
Iowa-Grant 12, Darlington 2 (5)
LIVINGSTON - Iowa-Grant pounded out 14 hits and cruised to a Southwest Wisconsin Activities League win over Darlington (6-7, 3-7 SWAL).
Iowa-Grant scored six runs in the fourth inning to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
Darlington's Bethany McDonald went 3-for-3.
