DARLINGTON - A near-perfect performance from the free throw line allowed the Darlington boys basketball team to prevail over SWAL rival Mineral Point Thursday night. The Redbirds knocked off the Pointers, 58-52.

Darlington trailed by two entering the final quarter, but the Redbirds went 12 for 12 from the line in the period to seal the victory.

"We actually struggled a little bit in the first quarter, and we didn't play overly well in the third," said Darlington coach Mike Hopkins. "But we had a bigger stretch than them in the second half. We made 12 of 12 free throws in the fourth."

Overall, the Redbirds made 24 of 27 from the free throw line.

Cole McDonald led Darlington with 20 points, 14 of which came from the line. Cade Hardyman also contributed 15 points for Darlington.
