Four Pecatonica players honored

BLANCHARDVILLE - The postseason accolades keep rolling in for four members of the Pecatonica High School baseball team.

Pecatonica's Brooks Chandler was named third-team all-state as a utility player and Kyle Kleppe was named honorable mention all-state as an infielder. Both Chandler and Kleppe received first-team South Central All-District honors. Chandler was named the South Central District Division 4 Player of the Year.

Both Chandler and Kleppe hit about .500 this season for the Vikings. Pecatonica finished the season 25-2 and was ranked No. 1 in Division 4 most of the season before a 7-5 loss to Catholic Central in a WIAA sectional semifinal game.

Pecatonica junior A.J. Hendrickson, Presly Hauser and Chandler were named academic all-district. To be nominated for the academic all-district team a player must have a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher. Both Hendrickson and Hauser were also academic all-state. To be eligible for academic all-state, a player must have a GPA of 3.75 or higher.

Chandler participated in the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches All-Star Classic on Friday and Saturday. Chandler was a member of the South All-Star team. The East defeated the South 7-3 Saturday and the West knocked off the South 5-1 Saturday. Chandler singled and scored on an error in the game against the West.
