MONROE - The Monroe boys soccer team had four players named Badger South All-Conference recently.

Monroe senior Corey Flannery was named honorable mention all-conference as a forward. Senior Jesse Keizer and junior midfielder Blake Duffy also received honorable mention honors. Senior defender Nick Gross also was named honorable mention all-conference.

Flannery scored a team-high 14 goals to lead the Cheesemakers. Keizer and Duffy each scored three goals.

"Sometimes when the scoring is spread out you don't get recognized with awards," Monroe coach Tony Vasquez said. "It's good for the program."

Monroe finished the season 10-7-3, (1-4-1 Badger South). The Cheesemakers' season came to an end with a 3-2 loss to Evansville in the WIAA Division 2 regional championship. The Cheesemakers also lost to conference champion and state qualifier Oregon 4-1.

Vasquez said this is the first year that each player had at least one goal or assist.

"It shows they were willing to share," Vasquez said. "I told the guys after I talked to them that it's a sign of how evenly our team played as our skill level."

The Sugar River boys soccer team had five players named Capitol South All-Conference. Sugar River senior Justin Stadelman was named the conference player of the year and was a first team all league forward. Stadelman scored a team-high 18 goals and had 45 points to lead the Raiders (9-9-4, 6-1-2 Capitol South) to a second-place finish in the conference. Columbus and Lodi (7-1-1) finished one point ahead of the Raiders to share the conference title.

Junior Mitchell DeLorme was named first team all-conference as a defender. DeLorme scored seven goals and was the third leading scorer on the team.

Junior Travis Loeffelholz was named second team all-conference as a midfielder. Loeffelholz scored eight goals and was the Raiders' second leading scorer. Senior goalkeeper Hayden Smith was also named to the second team. Junior defender Patrick Blair received honorable mention all-conference honors.
