STOUGHTON - Tyler Sexton tossed a two-hitter to lead Fort Atkinson to an 8-2 win over Monroe in a Badger South Conference clash Monday, April 29.

"He's one of the best pitchers in the conference," Monroe coach Dustin Huffman said. "We put the ball in play; we were just out in front. We just weren't able to find any green or gaps."

Monroe sophomore Sean Saxby went 1-for-2 and sophomore Chase Hellenbrand was 1-for-3.

Sexton pitched 6 2/3 innings and gave up one earned run on two hits. He struck out two and walked six. Monroe (1-8, 0-4 Badger South) had three errors.

"We had a few mistakes and missed a few (cutoffs) and they were able to sneak some runners into scoring position," Huffman said. "It's the fundamental things we can't continue to do."

Monroe senior Ryan Erickson pitched seven innings and gave up eight runs (three earned) on 13 hits. He struck out one and walked one.

"He left a few too many breaking balls and changeups up in the strike zone," Huffman said.

Monroe will host Oregon today.

"Hopefully, we are excited to be back at home," Huffman said. "It's a game we can go out and compete. It's another chance to get out and play and try to get a 'W.' We will see how it goes."
