FOND DU LAC - The Monroe Blues semi-pro hockey team lost its sixth straight game dropping a heartbreaker 5-4 to Fond du Lac 5-4 Saturday.
Fond du Lac jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. The Blues scored two goals in the first period and trailed 3-2. Monroe fell flat in the second period giving up two goals and trailed 5-2 at the end of the period.
Monroe came out in the third period and played its best hockey scoring two goals.
Monroe's Ryan Roeming scored two goals. Teammates Brandon Mortimer and Dom Peterson each had one goal. Gottlieb Brandli III had two assists and Peterson finished with one.
Monroe goalie Christian Blick had 33 saves. The Blues (1-7) will host Fond du Lac at 8 p.m. Friday at SLICE and will then host Portage at 8 p.m. Saturday.
