Five Raiders garner first-team honors

BELLEVILLE - Five Sugar River boys soccer players were named first-team All-Capitol Conference recently.

Sugar River (17-4-1, 8-0-1 Capitol Conference) was the conference co-champion with Lakeside Lutheran. Sugar River seniors Dylan Hustad and Nehemiah Noriega were both named first-team all-conference as forwards. Hustad led the Raiders with 30 goals and 11 assists. Noriega scored 17 goals and had six assists.

Senior teammate Kevin Zimmerman (14 goals and 11 assists) and senior Andrew DeLorme were named first-team all-conference at midfielder and Miguel Santos-Braceros was named first-team all-conference as a defender.

The Capitol Conference Player of the Year was Lakeside Lutheran's Joe Graumann.

Sugar River's Lukas Diaz was named second-team all-conference as a forward. Freshman teammate Connor DeLorme was named to the second team at defender.

The Raiders had three players named honorable mention all-conference - senior forward Mike Jennrich, junior defender Noah Leonard and sophomore defender Brock Kelly.

Sugar River defeated Monroe in a WIAA Division 3 regional championship game 3-2. Mount Horeb then edged the Raiders 2-0 in a sectional semifinal game.
