MONROE - The Monroe Mat Rats will send five wrestlers to the State Kids Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament at the Alliant Energy Center, Veteran's Memorial Coliseum in Madison March 25 and 26.
The wrestlers competed at regional tournaments in Richland Center and Oregon over the weekend. Each wrestler faced competition within their own weight class and according to birth year.
Max Haffele qualified in the 57-pound bracket for those born from 2002-03 and Bodie Minder (95 pounds) also qualified in the same age division. Cole Murray (97 pounds) and Traiten Gorr (185) both qualified in the 1998-99 age division. Sam Kind (2000-01) advanced in the 78-pound bracket.
McKenzy Foley took third place in his regional and is an alternate in the 105-pound bracket for those born in 1998-99.
Luke Dubach, Dempzy Foley, Kyle Gilbertson, Parker Ingold, Max Patterson, Patrick Rielly and Aidan Sweeney also participated in regional tournaments.
