NEW GLARUS - Freshman Zach Feller drilled six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 28 points to power the New Glarus boys basketball team to a 76-51 win over Argyle on Saturday.

New Glarus (4-0) used a 17-2 run in the first half to set the tone and led by 24 points at the half.

"We just really want to push the tempo and get up and down the floor," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said. "I think we came out and really pushed the tempo. We wanted to play fast and that is what we did."

The Glarner Knights used a man-to-man defense, but incorporated some halfcourt traps.

"Our defense forced a lot of turnovers and that led to some easy opportunities for us," Sysko said.

New Glarus senior Gavin Binger scored 18 points. Freshman teammate Jaden Kreklow had nine points and senior Trey Taylor and Cullen Brooks each added seven points.

The Knights shot 63 percent from the free throw line (12 of 19) compared to 51.6 percent for the Orioles (16 of 31).

Argyle senior Kyle Emberson scored a team-high 13 points and Mitch Dammen added 11 points. Junior Collin Argue chipped in nine points.

New Glarus will play at Watertown Luther Prep on Tuesday.

"They play a similar style to what we do," Sysko said. "I think it will be a track meet."

New Glarus also has non-conference games coming up against Lake Mills, the preseason favorite to win the Capitol North Conference, Pecatonica, the Six Rivers East Conference favorite, Lakeside Lutheran and Monroe.

"We have one of the toughest non-conference schedules of anybody," Sysko said. "We will be battle-tested. I'm excited to see how we do."
