EVANSVILLE - Evansville handed the Monroe High School volleyball team its ninth straight loss Tuesday, knocking off the Cheesemakers in three sets.
Evansville topped Monroe 25-20, 25-15, 25-18. Monroe (6-22, 0-6 Badger South) has one more regular-season match before the regional tournament starts Oct. 20.
"Ball-handling errors and hits going out kept us from finishing that set," Monroe coach Heidi Witt said. "The second and third sets, we couldn't put together a solid game. There was just too many errors."
Monroe junior Alicia Kuester had a team-high 11 kills, and sophomore Sydney Mathiason added five kills.
"I thought our front line was doing a decent job putting up a block and putting the ball back on the opponent's side," Witt said. "Our hitters were a bit more aggressive and could even be more so, especially when the setter gets that great pass."
Monroe junior Hannah Neuenschwander racked up 12 assists, and senior Paige Murphy had 11 assists. Senior teammate Hannah Vetterli posted five digs, and Hilliard and Murphy each had four digs.
