EVANSVILLE - The Monroe wrestling team won just two matches as Evansville-Albany, ranked No. 2 in Division 2, rolled to a 63-6 dual meet win over the Cheesemakers Tuesday.

"They are solid from top to bottom," Monroe coach Tom Witt said of Evansville-Albany, which made a state run last year. "They are a really good team. Evansville and Sparta are the favorites for state from our sectional. They have really good coaches who do the right thing."

The lone wins for the Cheesemakers came from sophomore Isaac Allen at 160 pounds and junior Traiten Gorr at 220. Allen edged Evansville-Albany's Johann Kleisch 6-5. Kleisch scored on a takedown and let Allen go with about 30 seconds to go to set up an opportunity for a potential match-winning takedown.

"He (Allen) was tired and not doing a good job of defending himself," Witt said. "He thought he could take him down again. He (Allen) gutted it out. If the roles were reversed, I would have done the same thing."

Gorr (34-2), ranked No. 8 in the Wisconsin Wrestling Online Division 2 poll, defeated No. 3 ranked Dustin Bjugstad 5-0. It was the third time this season that Gorr has defeated Bjugstad. When asked if Gorr should be ranked higher than No. 8, Witt put everything in perspective.

"I'm not too concerned about that," he said. "Those rankings don't mean anything. I'm more worried about what happens down the road. He definitely deserves to be up there."

Evansville-Albany's Tyler Grant defeated Monroe junior McKenzy Foley (170) 10-3.

"McKenzy is still coming back from a knee injury," Witt said. "He wrestled good. McKenzy is showing some signs of wrestling really well. He has taken some losses, but hopefully it will pay off at regionals."

The Blue Devils got pins from Nolan Kicmol (132), Jordan Meyer (138), Tyler Schmidt (152), Jake Carpenter (182) and Lucius Rinehart (195). The Cheesemakers also forfeited four weight classes (106, 113, 120 and 126).

Monroe will be off until the Badger Conference tournament Saturday, Feb. 7.
