Errors prove costly for Wiota

WIOTA - Errors plagued Wiota in an 8-7 loss to Ridgeway in a Home Talent Night League game Thursday, June 6.

Wiota (2-1) led 4-1 going into the fourth inning. Ridgeway scored six runs in the fourth without a hit to edge the Indians. Wiota had four errors in the fourth inning.

"That's unbelievable," Wiota manager Dick Schliem said of the big inning. "We had a lot of mental mistakes on fielder's choices. We had physical errors with the mental errors. It's hard to believe it happened."

Ridgeway's Adam Halverson had an RBI single in the fourth to give his team an 8-6 lead.

Wiota's Tommy Meier went 2-for-3 to lead the Indians. Wiota's Taylor Wiegel started and went three innings. He gave up one run on two hits. Wiota's Alex Abraham pitched four innings and took the loss. He gave up seven runs on three hits.
