MONROE - Ninth-ranked Madison Edgewood knocked off the Monroe boys hockey co-op 12-1 Friday, Dec. 13.
Edgewood (3-2) had a big first period en route to the win.
"In the first period we did not play well as a team," Monroe Avalanche coach Nate Brown said. "I think they played together and talked to each other the last two periods. I think they played like a completely different team the last two periods."
Avalanche senior Jake Trickel scored a goal on a diving shot off a pass from Gus Werhane in the second period. With the loss, Monroe drops to 1-2, 0-2 Badger South.
"It was a pretty amazing goal," Brown said. "It was a great effort by both guys."
Avalanche senior goalie Ethan Studer finished with 33 saves. Monroe will play at Oregon at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17.
