SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk High School girls basketball team had Edgerton on the ropes for one half in a nonconference game Monday night.
The Crimson Tide rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to roll to a 64-53 win over Black Hawk. The Crimson Tide outscored the Warriors 44-27 in the second half.
"You never want to lose," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "We knew coming in that this was going to be a tough game. They have a few athletes we don't see often in our conference. They have a couple of guards that are really fast. They used their speed and got the ball inside in the second half. We battled until the end. Physically, we had a hard time matching up with them. They were able to lob the ball inside and our help-side rotation was a little slow."
Black Hawk (3-2, 1-0 Six Rivers East) had three players in double figures led by senior Aleigha Sigafus who scored 13 points. Junior Sam Lovelace added 11 points, and senior Tatum Jackson had 10 points and hit two of the Warriors' 3-pointers.
The Warriors made six 3-pointers as a team. Black Hawk senior Abby Baumgartner also drilled two 3-pointers.
That was encouraging to see," Flanagan said of the Warriors hitting six 3-pointers. "We are shooting the ball a lot better this year."
Belleville 51, Pecatonica 18
BLANCHARDVILLE - After easing ahead in the first eight minutes of play, Pecatonica (1-3) lost the plot and eventually the game to Belleville.
"After having a bad first half, it was nice to see some of the players get fired up and ready to go," Pecatonica coach Bobby Rose said. "They were much more aggressive and more active in the second half."
After trailing 28-5 at halftime, Pecatonica was only outscored 23-13 in the second half.
The Vikings played without one of their starters, Liz Tisch.
Sam Erickson led Pecatonica with seven points.
Pecatonica will host Black Hawk on Thursday in a Six Rivers East Conference game.
