PRAIRIE DU SAC - With several players missing due to spring break, Monroe coach Brad Saugstad juggled the lineup and the Cheesemakers lost a dual match to Sauk Prairie 7-0 Tuesday, April 15.

Monroe drops to 0-2 in dual matches.

"It's not too often that Monroe tennis has started a season like this," Saugstad said. "We have to get some things corrected and we have to do it right away because next week is a very important week with three conference matches."

Monroe junior Matt Monahan at No. 1 singles lost to Sauk Prairie's Tyler Ballweg 6-1, 6-0. Sauk Prairie senior Cody Mack at No. 2 singles defeated Monroe junior Jeremy Miller 6-1, 6-2.

"In singles, Sauk Prairie had a nice 1 and 2 singles player who are consistent hitters, and Matt and Jeremy couldn't get anything going against them," Saugstad said.

At No. 3 singles, Monroe's Silas Setterstrom lost to Sauk Prairie junior Logan Chrisler 7-5, 6-0 and Monroe's Aaron Meier at No. 4 singles lost to Sauk Prairie's Alec Anderson 6-2, 6-1.

"Silas Setterstrom played a close first set, but got off to a slow start in the second set and couldn't get on the scoreboard," Saugstad said. "Silas is still a freshman, and rebounding from losing a close set is something that will come with more experience."

The Cheesemakers' No. 1 doubles team of senior Mark Jenson and junior Kevin Noriega lost a three-set match to Sauk Prairie's Jarrett Frosch and Ben Kraus 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.

"In the third set, we struggled putting first serves in and fed Sauk too many easy shots around the net," he said.

At No. 2 doubles, Sauk Prairie's Brendan Ballweg and TJ Pfaff defeated the Cheesemakers' Ellyott Baertschi and Kody Althaus 6-1, 6-2. At No. 3 doubles, the Cheesemakers' Keyton Friske and Rhett Katzenberger lost to Michael Korski and Tom Babic 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4).
