Dodgeville edges Brodhead-Juda wrestlers

LODI - The Brodhead-Juda wrestling team lost a nail-biter 36-34 at the WIAA Division 2 Lodi sectional Tuesday night.

Dodgeville won seven of the smallest eight weight classes and the Cardinals dominated the upper weights picking up wins at the six largest weight classes. Brodhead-Juda sophomore Brady Colden at 160 pounds defeated Brett Binsfield 11-5. Sophomore Gavin Baade (182) defeated Austin Olson 11-1 and Tyler Davis (195) pinned Sam Gollon in 1 minute, 33 seconds. Sophomore Reave Lincoln (220) pinned Payton Calvert in 1:10 and sophomore Logan Maurer pinned Matt Gorgen in 10 seconds. Hunter Colden won by forfeit. The only win for the Cardinals at the lower weights came from Dalton Oborne (132) who defeated Payton Grunow 9-7.

Mauston edged Lodi 31-30 in the first match and then cruised to a 54-17 win over Dodgeville to qualify for state as a team.
