MONROE - The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department is now taking registrations for the first Disc Golf Tournament.
The tournament is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Twining Park Disc Golf Course. The format is doubles (two males, two females or one male/ one female and best-shot doubles, with having to throw both discs each turn and playing the best disc from one player each hole. Morning rounds of the tournament will include nine holes and then the top four teams in each division will play a championship nine hole round. Divisions are A and B, with possibly only one division depending on number of participants. The registration cost is $20 per team. Teams will be in the tournament when their roster and entry fee are turned into the Parks and Recreation office. Entry fee and roster form are due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26.
Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks and Recreation office located at 1110 18th Avenue. The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
