MONROE - After a first half in which they led 2-0, the Monroe Cheesemakers found the second half to be unkind in a 3-2 loss to Milton on Senior Night, Tuesday.

The Red Hawks scored the go-ahead goal on a free kick after goalkeeper Jordan Steurer appeared to have stopped Milton with a save on a penalty kick. After Steurer's save, officials ruled that Steurer had stepped over the line while kicking the ball out. Milton's Joel Addie was awarded a free kick and converted the goal, which proved to be the game-winner, with 7 minutes, 52 seconds remaining.

Monroe took a 2-0 lead in the first half on junior Godi Brandli's goal at 22:44 and Andrew Aurit's long shot from the right side that was perfectly placed into the left side of the net at 29:59.

In the second half, Addie scored an unassisted goal in the 45th minute.

Then the misfortunes began for the Cheesemakers, giving up an own goal on a clearing pass that went into the net at 61:53, tying the score at 2-2.

"We had quite a few opportunities, but we just couldn't put it into the net," said Monroe head coach Tony Stamm.

The Cheesemakers fell to 2-2 in the Badger South and 7-4 overall. They will host Dodgeville Saturday at 11 a.m.
