Darlington upends Shullsburg, 71-63

DARLINGTON - Junior Kaylee Meyers scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Darlington girls basketball team to a 71-63 win over Shullsburg Monday.

The Redbirds (13-4, 9-1 SWAL) jumped out to a 45-29 lead at the half. Darlington junior Kathleen Mathias had 16 points and senior Kennedy Rankin added 11. The Redbirds hit eight 3-pointers. Darlington junior Bethany McDonald, senior Chelsie Golackson, Rankin and Meyers each knocked down two 3-pointers.

Shullsburg freshman Layla Alt scored a team-high 20 points and senior Brianna Leahy added 19. Senior teammate Nicole Teutschmann added 17 and drilled five 3-pointers. With the loss, the Miners drop to 15-3 overall.

In other action Monday, New Glarus defeated Mineral Point 50-44 in a nonconference game. With the win, New Glarus improves to 9-10 overall.
