Darlington runners advance

CUBA CITY - Both the Darlington girls and boys track teams were in the driver's seat to win regional championships before the Cuba City regional was postponed Monday.

Darlington senior Paige Schilling won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 13 minutes, 52.94 seconds. Two other Darlington runners advanced to the sectional including junior Emma Crist who took second (13:53.04) and senior Bailey McDonald who was third (13:57.74).

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Josie Penniston won the 400 (1 minute, 0.34 seconds) and finished second in the 200 (26.64).

Pecatonica-Argyle had three qualify for the sectional in the 400. Senior Liz Tisch finished second (1:03.64) and freshman Val Carr took fourth (1:05.94). Tisch also advanced in the 200 by taking fourth (27.44).

Black Hawk junior Haley Gertsch finished second in the 400 (1:04.04).

Darlington junior Erin Wolf won the 800 (2:36.64). Also moving on in the race are Monticello sophomore Abby Wicker, who finished third (2:37.74), and Darlington sophomore Ilse Mendez, who took fourth (2:38.54).

Darlington junior Reghan Komprood won the 100 (5:48.14), and Wicker was second (5:49.34).

Monticello freshman Maggie Bak took third in the 1,600 (6:03.14).

The Redbirds swept the top two spots in the discus - junior Kennedy Rankin won (123-10) and senior Taryn Rankin was second (123-4).

Darlington's 3,200 relay team of junior Emma Crist, Komprood, Mendez and senior Paige Schilling won (10:45.21).

Pecatonica-Argyle junior Taetum Pagel took second in the high jump (4-11).

Darlington junior Hunter Weber won the pole vault (9-9).

Monticello sophomore Alyssen Noriega took third in the 200 (26.84) and placed fourth in the 100 (13.14).

Darlington's 800 relay team finished second (1:51.44) and the 1,600 relay team placed second (4:31.96). The Redbirds' 400 relay team finished third (53.54) and Monticello took fourth (55.64).

Darlington sophomore Kaylee Meyers finished third in the long jump (15-3 1⁄2), and senior teammate Sadie Fitzsimons was third in the triple jump (29-101⁄4). Sophomore teammate Olivia Whalen placed fourth in the shot put (33-2).

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Dea Vatter took fourth in the triple jump (29-1 3⁄4).

In the boys meet, Darlington junior Grady Rielly won titles in the 110 high hurdles (15.64) and 300 hurdles (43.54).

Darlington junior Tanner Evenstad won a regional title in the 800 (2:06.54), sophomore teammate Tucker Lange was second (2:06.84), and Pecatonica-Argyle sophomore Joseph Tisch took third (2:08.44).

Darlington senior Mitchell Wagner took second in the 110 hurdles (16.24), second in the 300 hurdles (45.14), second in the triple jump (39-11) and third in the high jump (5-9).

In the 1,600, Darlington sophomore Trae Schilling won the regional title (5:02.54).

The Redbirds' 3,200 relay team of Evenstad, senior Conner Hackett, junior Paul King and Lange won (8:30.70). Pecatonica-Argyle placed fourth in the 3,200 relay (9:23.19). Darlington's 800 relay team of junior Kameron Blosch, junior Curtis Blosch, senior Jared Meister and senior Trevor Johnson won a regional championship (1:34.74). The Redbirds' 400 relay team finished second (45.84) and the 1,600 relay took second (3:44.89).

Monticello senior Max Hoffmaster took second in the 100 (11.34) and second in the 200 (23.24). Monticello senior Bryss Shover finished third in the shot put (44-1).

Darlington sophomore Blake Whalen finished third in the 200 (24.24) and junior teammate Curtis Blosch placed third in the pole vault (11-0). Sophomore teammate Alexis Cruz placed fourth in the 400 (59.94). In the discus, Darlington junior Connor McGowan took third (135-7).



Deerfield regional

DEERFIELD - The Albany girls ran to a WIAA Division 3 regional title.

The Comets edged Parkview for the regional team title 124.5-118.5. In the boys regional, Cambridge edged Albany for the team title 132-124.

Albany senior Ciara Kaderly won the girls 1,600 (5:40.54). Kaderly teamed with junior Emma Gunether, freshman Kristin O'Bel and sophomore Megan Anderson to win the 3,200 relay (10:20.56).

Albany sophomore Libby Beck won regional titles in the shot put (35-6) and discus (103-4). Kaitlyn Trow finished second in the 200 (28.14).

Trow teamed with O'Bel, Anderson and Madison Peters to help the Comets win the 800 relay (1:52.42).

Gunether placed third in the 3,200 (12:53.87) and junior madeline Halverson was third in the triple jump (30-4). O'Bel finished third in the pole vault 6-6) and Lauren Blumer was fourth (6-6).

The Albany boys 3,200 relay team, also won a regional title (8:30.91). Albany senior Isaac Halverson won the 800 (2:07.22) and junior Garrett Hlavachek took second (2:07.65). Sophomore Josh Dahl finished first in the 400 (52.80).

Sophomore Evan Blumer won the dicus (141-1) and senior Noah Pagel took third (126-0). In the shot put, Blumer placed third (41-5 1/2) and Pagel was fourth (39-4).

Senior teammate Hunter Georgeson took fourth in the 200 (24.70) and fourth in the 400 (57.05). Senior Connor Trow placed fourth in the 110 hurdles (18.46) and fourth in the 300 hurdles (46.08).

The Comets' 1,600 relay team also took second (3:41.44).
