Darlington boys win title

BOSCOBEL - The Darlington boys track team left no doubt who is the SWAL Conference champion by totaling 187 points at the conference meet, 70 points better than second-place Fennimore.

The Redbirds owned the long-distance running events, placing first, second and third in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Sophomore Kent Miehe was the conference champion in the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes, 49.25 seconds with sophomore Michael Sinclair taking second and junior Connor Roach finishing third.

In the 3,200-meter run, Roche took the conference championship in 10 minutes, 44.71 seconds. Sinclair was right behind taking second and Miehe grabbed third.

Darlington's Braden Zywicki, a senior, was the conference champion in the 110-meter hurdles (16.70 seconds), and junior Alex Erickson claimed the conference championship in the 400-meter dash (51.10 seconds).

Darlington's other conference champions included, the 400-meter relay team of Aaron Stauffacher, Cedric Flesher, Mitchell Langkamp and Trynton Schwartz (3:34.83), and senior Bruce King in the high jump (six feet).

Fennimore won the girls conference championship with 178 points. Darlington placed second with 137 points. The Redbirds' 400-meter relay team captured a conference championship as sophomore Hannah Huffman, junior Kayla Lange, senior Olivia Wedig, and junior Chase Hermanson won the event in 4 minutes, 16.41 seconds. The 800-meter relay team also won a conference championship with freshman Christa Wamsley, freshman Cheyenne Wolfe, sophomore Amy Jorgenson and Wedig running the event in 10 minutes, 27.77 seconds.

Darlington senior Kara Krahenbuhl placed second in the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches), while Huffman took second in the long jump (14 feet, 8.5 inches).

The Redbirds also got a second-place finish from their 100-meter relay team of Krahenbuhl, Hermanson, Cassidy Chambers and Taryn Evenstad with a time of 53.55 seconds.
