Darlington boys, girls run to title

DARLINGTON - Both the Darlington boys and girls track teams won a quad with Riverdale, Benton-Scales Mound and Fennimore Tuesday night.

The girls team won the event with 117 points, giving them a 37-point win over second-place Benton-Scales Mound.

Eleven Darlington girls took first place in their respective events. Carly Langkamp won the 200-meter dash in 28.33 seconds. Claire Cullen won the 800 in 2 minutes, 31.06 seconds. Johanna Meister took first in the 1,600 (6:05.73), and Christa Wamsley won the 3,200 (12:26.77). Courtney King won the 300-meter hurdles in 55.05 seconds. The Redbirds also picked up wins from their 4x400 (4:53.14) and 4x800 (11:35.60) relay teams.

Abigail Merriam took first in the high jump with a jump of 5 feet and Shai Rowe won the pole vault at 6 feet, 6 inches. Kelsey Wiegel took first in the shot put with a throw of 30 feet, 11 inches and Mallory Busch won the discus with a throw of 86 feet, 10 inches.

The Redbird boys had ten wins. Kyle Johnson won the 100 (11.71 seconds), Thomas Shultz the 400 (58.03 seconds), Robert Martin the 800 (2:19.24), Sean Barbee the 1600 (5:11.70), and Joe Moseley the 3200 (12:14.21). Blake Cwynar won the 300 hurdles in 47.62 seconds. The Redbirds also won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.

Patrick Roche won the pole vault for Darlington at 10 feet, 6 inches. Darlington also picked up a win in the shot put thanks to a 41 foot, 3.25 inch throw by Brett Erickson.

The Darlington track teams are back in action on Friday, May 10 at the Boscobel Invite.

Brodhead_juda boys clip Clinton

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead-Juda boys track team edged rival Clinton in a dual meet 73.5-72.5 Tuesday, May 7.

Brodhead-Juda junior Dylan Johnson won the 1,600-meter run (4 minutes, 50 seconds) and the 3,200 (11:13.4). Brodhead-Juda senior Koel Steinman won the 400 (53.9) and senior Dillon Larson took first in the 800 (2;13).

The Cardinals dominated the field events, winning five of six events. Brodhead-Juda junior Clay Welte won the pole vault (12-0) and Matt Speckman won the long jump (18-4 3/4). Brodhead-Juda junior Jordan Douglas took first in the triple jump (39-2 1/2) and Logan Maurer won the shot put (45-8). Sophomore Gavin Baade added a first-place finish in the discus (132-8). The Cardinals finished first in the 3,200 relay (10:09.3).

In the girls' dual meet, Clinton defeated Brodhead-Juda 77-69. The Cougars won 12 of the 18 events. Brodhead-Juda's Alicia Condon won the shot put (33-9) and the discus (121-5). Junior teammate Carly Mohns finished first in the long jump (15-6 1/2) and junior Meg Duffield was first in the 400 (1:01.5). Brodhead-Juda senior Morgan Adkins won the 800 (2:36.9). The Cardinals' 1,600 relay team took first (4:26.4) and the 3,200 relay team won (11:57).

Sugar River's Harley Hollis won the long jump (14 feet, 11.5 inches) and she took first in the triple jump (30-9).

Sugar River senior Emily Diaz finished first in the 100 (13.21) and senior teammate Madeline Brunner was first in the 200 (27.86). Sugar River junior Alexis Hanson won the 400 (1:00.33) and Albany junior Bailey Hlavachek was second (1:04.11).

Albany's Chantel Rogers won the 800 (2:40.7) and the high jump (4-8). The Raiders also received wins from Sam Barr in the 1,600 (6:01.14), Lauren O'Connor in the 3,200 (13:38.44) and Emily Butters in the 300 hurdles (59.12).

Pecatonica-Argyle's Cassidy Steiner took first in the shot put (29-10) and Sugar River's Kayla Schween was second (28-3). The Vikings' 400 relay team of Hannah Swenson, Lizzy Ritschard, Aimee Von Arx and Katie Zwicker won (55.78), which was about two seconds ahead of the Raiders, who took second (57.56). The same quartet for the Vikings teamed up to win the 800 relay (1:57.77), which was about three seconds ahead of Albany (2:00.80).

Sugar River's Jamie Brown won the discus (95-0.5) and teammate Ashley Clark took first in the pole vault (7-6). The Raiders added second-place finishes in the 1,600 relay (4:18.50) and the 3,200 relay (10:58.65).

In the boys meet, Sugar River junior Garrison Woods won three individual events including the 100 (11.37), long jump (21-3/4) and the triple jump (42-3 1/2). Sugar River freshman Landon Zimmerman took first in the shot put (40-0) and won the discus (120-11). Teammate Craig Thompson finished second in both the shot put (39-10) and discus (116-11).

Sugar River's Colton Boley won the 110 high hurdles (17.68) and the 300 hurdles (44.53). The Raiders also got first-place finishes from Max Eggenberger in the 200 (23.99), Kelvin Johnson in the 800 (2:09.9), Tucker McMahon in the 1,600 (4:57.33), Taylor Christen in the 3,200 (11:13.60) and Mitchell DeLorme in the high jump (5-6).

The Raiders swept the top three spots in the 200. Boley finished second (24.47), Spencer Jones was third (24.48) and Monticello's Forrest Havens took fourth (24.63).

Eggenberger teamed with Tyler Gilbertson, Gabe Noyce and Justin Stadelman to win the 1,600 relay (3:50.55). The Raiders' 3,200 relay team of Eggenberger, Caleb Fredickson, Alexander Yeiser and Johnson won with a time of 8:50.15. Monticello's 3,200 relay team of Dylan Beckwith, Hunter Pratt and Brock Westby-Hess took second (9:05.49).

DeLorme teamed with Alex Gocht, Jones and Noyce to win the 800 relay (1:37.67).

Monticello's Josh Kolasch took second place in the 100 (11.72), third place in the shot put (38-3) and discus (115-10 1/2). Jones took third in the pole vault (9-0) and Albany's Henrik Eriksen and Chad Helland each cleared 9-0 for fourth and fifth respectively. Monticello's John Zuber finished third in the 800 (2:10.61) and Helland finished fourth in the 800 (2:10.90).
