DARLINGTON - Cuba City, winner of seven straight SWAL Conference championships and the Division 3 state runner-up last year, swept the Redbirds, 25-14, 25-16, 25-21 Tuesday in the conference opener for both teams.
Junior Miranda Wiegel delivered six kills and junior Elizabeth Mathias contributed five blocks for the Redbirds.
Darlington also got 12 assists and an ace from junior Vanessa Riley. Darlington (6-5, 0-1 SWAL) will travel to Riverdale Thursday.
Argyle 3, Pecatonica 2
ARGYLE - The Orioles lost the first two games, but rallied to take the next three games and defeat the Vikings, 22-25,17-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-9 in a Six Rivers East match Tuesday.
Junior Micala Peterson helped the Orioles to their comeback win with nine kills and 17 digs.
Sophomore Kayla Ostby came up with 24 assists for Argyle while juniors Danielle Treuthardt and Abby Flanagan each had three blocks and seven aces.
"Our execution was the key," said Shane Johnson, Argyle head coach. "Our gameplan was the same the whole time. The kids and the team listened to the coaches after losing the first two. It was dramatically different once they started listening," Johnson said.
Argyle will travel to Juda Thursday while Pecatonica hosts Black Hawk Tuesday.
