CUBA CITY - The second time around against Cuba City wasn't what the Darlington girls basketball team envisioned as the Cubans rolled to a 59-35 win over the Redbirds Thursday night.
Cuba City, ranked 10th in the Division 4 Associated Press state poll, jumped out to a 12-2 first-quarter lead and cruised from there. The Cubans outscored the Redbirds 22-12 in the third quarter to take a 20-point lead into the fourth.
Darlington junior Cassidy Chambers scored a team-high 11 points and junior Claire Scott added nine. The Redbirds shot just 5 of 16 from the foul line.
