Cross Plains blanks Monroe

CROSS PLAINS - The Monroe Brewers were shut down by Cross Plains and lost 9-0 in a Home Talent Night League game Thursday.

Monroe (3-5) managed just three hits as a team. Scott White and Brewers co-player manager Lon Scheuerell had back-to-back singles in the first inning, but Monroe couldn't push across a run.

"We didn't play very good defense and we didn't swing the bats well," Scheuerell said.

Adam Francour, who went 1 for 2, had a single in the second.

Francour pitched five innings and gave up four earned runs. He struck out two and walked one. Monroe's Jake Teasdale in relief loaded the bases in the sixth, but pitched out of a bases loaded jam.

PINE BLUFF 5, WIOTA 1

WIOTA - Pine Bluff handed Wiota a 5-1 loss. Wiota's Coltin Laird went 2 for 3 to lead the Indians. Laird took the loss pitching for Wiota. He pitched five innings and gave up four runs. He struck out three and walked nine. Matt Keister pitched two innings in relief and gave up just one run on four hits.
