MAZOMANIE - The will to win has never been doubted on one of Monroe coach Dave Hirsbrunner's teams. Friday night, the will to compete fueled a shared title at the Wisconsin Heights Invitational.
After an hour-and-a-half rain delay, the six-team meet went on even with rain intermittently pounding the competitors.
"Our guys would have been very disappointed to lose another meet," Hirsbrunner said. "This has been a crazy spring for all sports."
The Cheesemaker boys tied River Valley with 143 points, 34 better than third-place Lodi's 109. Pecatonica-Argyle swam with some big fish and came away with 51 points for fifth.

"We had 15 personal bests on a night that was not very conducive to personal bests," Hirsbrunner said. "Lucas had a tremendous night. It's fun to see the throwers getting into it at the meets and really starting to compete."
