BARNEVELD - With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Albany Comets still find themselves in first place in the Six Rivers East with a perfect 8-0 record after a three game sweep of the Barneveld Eagles Tuesday, 25-11, 25-23, 25-19.
Senior Sydney Bump slammed home 21 kills and 15 digs while senior Courtney Pfeuti added 29 assists and 14 digs to lead the Comets. Senior Hillary Best also played a key role with 10 kills and 15 digs, plus eight straight service points which included an ace in theS Game 1 victory.
The Eagles had the Comets on the ropes in the second game, leading 19-17 before Albany's Kirstie Kauk served three straight service points followed by and ace and an out-of-bounds that gave Albany the lead for good at 22-19.
"It was not easy by any means," said Albany head coach Connie Wunschel. "Barneveld was coming after us, but I like how our level of play has come up. Having Hillary in the line-up gives us a reliable extra hitter."
Albany's next match is Tuesday at Monticello.

SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk Warriors improved to 6-2 and remain in second place in the Six Rivers East after a three game sweep of the Monticello Ponies Tuesday, 25-17, 25-11, 25-21.
Black Hawk hosts Pecatonica Thursday.

BOSCOBEL - The Darlington Redbirds got their first SWAL Conference win of the season Tuesday with a 25-21, 25-11, 21-25, 25-21 victory at Boscobel Tuesday.
Junior Miranda Wiegel paced the Redbirds with seven kills and junior Vanessa Riley added 10 assists.
Darlington (1-8) will see the Boscobel Bulldogs again in their next match on Thursday October 7th.
Wisconsin Heights 3, New Glarus 0
NEW GLARUS - Wisconsin Heights, ranked No. 5 in the latest WisSports.net Coaches Poll, routed the Glarner Knights Tuesday, 25-3, 25-9, 25-13.
New Glarus was led by seniors Mara Gartzke with four kills, Lauren Narveson with four assists, and Alexa Secord with eight digs.
New Glarus (1-6 Capitol South) will travel to Marshall Tuesday.
Big Foot 3, Brodhead 0
WALWORTH - The Chiefs swept the Cardinals in three games, 25-16, 25-13, 25-13 in Rock Valley South Conference action Tuesday.
Sophomore Heather Shanks led the Cardinals in several categories, with four kills, three aces, and six digs.
Brodhead will host Clinton Thursday.
