ALBANY - The Pecatonica Vikings got their first conference win of the season by splitting a Six Rivers East doubleheader with the Albany Comets Thursday.
In Game 1, senior Megan Farley went 3 for 3 with a double, while senior Kaitlyn Schulz went 2 for 4, to lead the Comets to a 4-2 win over the Vikings.
Albany jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead, but Pecatonica tied it with runs in the second and third innings. The Comets went ahead to stay with two runs in the bottom of the third to back up starting pitcher Katie Krupke, who struck out six and allowed just one earned run.
Senior Ellie Gifford went 2 for 4 to lead the Vikings.
In the second game, the Vikings broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the fifth inning to get a 6-2 win over the Comets.
Pecatonica got 11 hits, including three for extra bases as sophomore Michelle Francois went 3 for 4 and Gifford went 2 for 4 to lead Pecatonica. Freshman Julia Meyer and sophomore Cora Demler combined on a four-hitter. The Vikings also took advantage of five Albany errors.
"In the second game, we had our chances, but just didn't connect well with the bat," Albany head coach Connie Wunschel said.
Pecatonica (3-13, 1-8 Six Rivers East) will host Black Hawk Thursday. Albany (3-7, 2-6 Six Rivers East) will host Argyle Tuesday.
Albany also announced that their scheduled game at Monticello has been rescheduled for Saturday May 21 at Albany and they will host Black Hawk in a rescheduled conference game on Tuesday May 24.

BARNEVELD - The Panthers swept the Eagles to remain unbeaten in the Six Rivers East.
In the first game, junior Amber Ramos hit a three-run homer in the first inning, then stuck out 10 batters to lead the Panthers. Courtney Moisan went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles and senior Alycia Grenzow went 3 for 4 with a double, as the Panthers hammered out 17 hits.
Game 2 of the doubleheader found the Eagles taking a 3-1 lead on the Panthers in the top of the fourth inning. Juda responded with a single tally in the bottom of the inning, then tied it at 3-3 in the fifth. That eventually sent the game into extra innings with Juda winning it in walk-off fashion.
In the bottom of the eighth, junior C.J. Dunwiddie ripped a double with one out and went to third on senior Megan Trotter's base hit. Trotter stole second, resulting in an intentional walk to Jessica Rackow to load the bases. Juda head coach Bill Davis called on sophomore McKayla Trotter to pinch hit for Tabitha Davis and Trotter delivered with a game-winning line drive to score Dunwiddie.
Juda (13-2, 10-0 Six Rivers East) will host the Juda Tournament Saturday where they will face Parkview and Racine Lutheran.
Parkview 4, Brodhead 2
BRODHEAD - Parkview's Rhianna Noble outpitched Brodhead's Erika Stampfli in a matchup of two of the best pitchers in the Rock Valley South as the Vikings handed the Cardinals their first conference loss Thursday.
Noble held the Cardinals' bats in check by allowing just five hits and no earned runs. Senior Tia Collins scored on an error in the third inning and Shianne Strommen scored on an error in the fourth inning for the only runs of the game for Brodhead.
Stampfli struck out 13 batters, but the Vikings scored twice in the second inning and scored the game-winning run after two were out in the sixth inning. They added an insurance run in the seventh.
Brodhead (14-3, 10-1 Rock Valley South) will host Beloit Turner Tuesday. A win would clinch a conference title for the Cardinals.
