Comets soar past Orioles; Cards, 'Birds net wins

ARGYLE - Corbin Kelley and Jamison Stauffacher each scored 22 points as Albany was able to steal a Six Rivers East win from Argyle Tuesday night.

"Late in the game they were able to get the ball inside and convert," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said.

Albany led 33-31 at halftime, but Argyle was able to pluck the lead early in the second half. Down the stretch the Comets hit their shots from the line, finishing the game 20 of 26 from the charity stripe.

Gavin Johnson scored a game-high 24 to lead the Orioles, and teammate Brent Ritschard scored 18. Josh Shell added 15 for Albany.



Darlington 68, Dodgeville 56

DODGEVILLE - Darlington made a switch to a fullcourt man defense and the Redbirds ran past Dodgeville with a big second half.

Darlington (3-0) led by one point at the half, 19-18. The Redbirds outscored the Dodgers 49-38 in the second half.

"It was a slow paced first half because both teams were playing zones," Darlington coach Tom Uppena said. "We switched to a fullcourt man in the second half to try to create some turnovers and speed them up. Both teams got into a ryhtym shooting."

Dodgeville's Bryce Prochaska scored a game-high 20 points. Darlington sophomore Carter Lancaster scored a team-high 18 points.

Darlington senior Tony Ruesga added 15 points and senior Tanner Evenstad pitched in 12 points.



Brodhead 62, Clinton 51

BRODHEAD - Senior Brekan Day scored a game-high 21 points to propel the Cardinals over the Cougars.

Day made 9 of 11 free throws to lead a Brodhead team that shot 79 percent from the free throw line (22 of 28). Brodhead senior Justice Tway added 15 points and senior Parker Johnson chipped in 14 points and hit three 3-pointers.

In other action, Barneveld beat Black Hawk 53-44.
