Comets roll to take victory; Redbirds remain unbeaten

ALBANY - The Albany girls basketball team was clicking on all cylinders in a 53-35 win over Clinton Saturday night.

Albany (3-1) outscored Clinton 19-4 in the first quarter to set the tone. Clinton closed the deficit to 32-21 at halftime.

The Comets had four players in double figures led by freshman Cassidy Bump, who scored a team-high 12 points. Juniors Hayli Peach and Courtney Pfeuti scored 11 points each and Sydney Bump added 10.

Darlington 47, Boscobel 33

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds continued their hot start to the season with a 47-33 win over Boscobel Saturday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 10-7 first quarter lead, but the Redbirds battled back. The Redbirds outscored the Bulldogs, 12-8 in the second quarter and had a 19-18 halftime lead.

Darlington (2-0) had a three-point lead at the end of the third quarter, but the Redbirds blew the game open by outscoring the Bulldogs 19-8 in the fourth quarter.

Darlington was led by junior Elizabeth Mathias, who scored a team-high 10 points. Miranda Wiegel and Kelsey Fink each scored nine points.

The Redbirds lived from the free throw line hitting 22 of 34 from the charity stripe.
