ALBANY - Once Albany's Cassidy Bump and Jessica Mauerman started applying the pressure on the top end of the Comets' press, Johnson Creek was in trouble.

After a slow first quarter, coach Bryce Pickett said the Albany's pressure was the difference Monday night in sending the Comets to a 54-25 non-conference victory against Johnson Creek.

"We switched to our pressure for a little bit and really put the pressure on them," Pickett said. "Mauerman and Bump up front really forced them into some bad passes."

Bump, a junior, scored 18 points to lead Albany (5-15), and classmate Kirstie Kauk added 17 - including a 10-for-13 effort from the foul line.

"Once we got going, it was hard to stop us," Pickett said. "It was probably the best we moved the ball on offense the whole year."

MONTICELLO - Becky Nelson and Marissa Berg each scored 10 points for the host Ponies (10-10) in the non-conference loss.

Katrina Polkinghorn scored 10 points to lead Lancaster, which took a 32-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
