JUDA - Albany junior point guard Tyler Dahl scored a game-high 24 points to propel the Comets to a 49-46 win over Juda Thursday.
It was a preview of a regional quarterfinal game when the two teams will play each other again Tuesday in Albany. Albany (10-12, 8-4 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 14-9 lead in the first quarter and led by just one point at the half.
"It was definitely an interesting game," Juda coach James Pickett said. "Both teams didn't want to expose too much of their hand since we play again.
"I think we executed our gameplan for the most part. But Tyler Dahl got into the paint a little more than we needed to. It will be interesting to see what both teams come up with."
The Comets outscored the Panthers 14-8 in the third quarter to help seal the win. The Panthers (8-14, 5-7 Six Rivers East) battled back and Juda senior Cory Segner missed a fadeaway potential game-tying 3-pointer.
"We dug ourselves a hole in the third quarter, and in the fourth we picked up our defensive intensity creating a couple of turnovers, and we were able to capitalize on them," Pickett said.
Juda sophomore Matt Schmitt scored a team-high 16 points and Segner added 12 points. Albany senior Cole Trapp scored 10 points.

RIVER Ridge 41
BLANCHARDVILLE - Pecatonica senior Drew Schliem made his season debut on Senior Night after overcoming a broken ankle after falling out of a tree stand in a deer hunting accident in the fall.
Schliem scored a team-high 17 points to lead the Vikings to a 54-41 win over River Ridge. Pecatonica sophomore A.J. Hendrickson added 13 points.
"It was fantastic," Pecatonica assistant coach and Drew's father Larry Schliem said. "He's been kind of going through stuff for the past couple weeks but never really getting into any physical (activity). Last night was his first cleared practice that he could bang a little bit.
"He's another shooter for us. He's our only senior. As a father, it was just so enjoyable to see him out there again. It helps us, it makes us deeper. He needed to get at least one game in as far as rotation-wise, get people used to playing with him again."
Pecatonica (17-5, 11-1 Six Rivers East) raced out to a 17-6 lead in the first quarter and led by 14 points at the half. Pecatonica will host seventh-seeded Cassville in a regional quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
"They're man-to-man and physical, so that's what we expect them to be," Larry Schliem said. "But one bad game now and you're done."
Black Hawk 55, Monticello 36
MONTICELLO - Black Hawk senior Shawn Woodruff scored a team-high 15 points and the Warriors rolled to a 55-36 win over Monticello.
Black Hawk (12-10, 7-5 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first quarter and led by 14 points at the half. The Warriors sealed the victory with a 15-6 run in the third quarter. Black Hawk senior Heath Butler added 10 points.
Monticello senior Ben May scored a game-high 21 points and eclipsed the 1,200-career points. With the loss, Monticello drops to 1-21, 0-12 Six Rivers East. Eighth-seeded Monticello will play a regional quarterfinal game at top-seeded Williams Bay Tuesday. The Ponies lost in the regional to Williams Bay last year.
Barneveld 67, Argyle 46
BARNEVELD - Brycen Sorensen scored a game-high 21 points to help Barneveld cruise to a 67-46 win over Argyle.
Barneveld (13-9, 9-3 Six Rivers East) led the Orioles by just five points at the half. The Eagles outscored the Orioles 41-25 in the second half. Barneveld's Wes Williams added 12 points and Michael Zouski chipped in 10 points. The Eagles are riding a five-game winning streak going into the tournament.
Argyle junior Riley Ostby scored a team-high 17 points. Junior teammate Kyle Emberson added 12 points and senior Colton Ploessl chipped in eight points. With the loss, Argyle drops to 5-16, 2-10 Six Rivers East.
Cuba City 55, Darlington 50
CUBA CITY - Ben Burkholder scored a team-high 15 points to help Cuba City knock off Darlington 55-50.
With the win, Cuba City avenged an earlier season loss to Darlington. Cuba City's Zach Gaines added 14 points.
The Cubans had a 26-23 lead at the half. The Redbirds outscored the Cubans 15-12 to tie the game at 38 going into the fourth quarter. The Cubans sealed the victory by outscoring the Redbirds 17-12 in the fourth quarter.
Darlington senior Cole McDonald scored a game-high 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Sophomore teammate Will Schwartz added 14 points. McDonald and Schwartz combined to make 10 three-pointers. Both Darlington (19-3, 11-3 SWAL) and Cuba City (17-5, 11-3) tied for second place in the SWAL behind Mineral Point.

POYNETTE - Tanner Bruchs and Riley Lytle combined to score 46 points to power Poynette to a 90-54 win over New Glarus.
It was the tale of two halves for New Glarus. The Pumas led the Glarner Knights by just eight points at the half, 41-33. The Pumas broke the game open by outscoring the Knights 49-21 in the second half.
New Glarus junior Austin Schlueter scored a team-high 18 points and drilled three 3-pointers. Junior teammate Gavin Binger added nine points. Senior Colton Boley and Sawyer Myers each chipped in eight points for the Knights.
Poynette was 15 of 21 at the free-throw line compared to 10 of 15 for New Glarus. With the loss, New Glarus drops to 10-12, 6-5 Capitol South.
In other action, Brodhead defeated Parkview 60-51. With the win, Brodhead improves to 7-15, 4-12 Rock Valley South. Brodhead will play at Edgerton in a regional quarterfinal game Tuesday.
