COLUMBUS - The New Glarus boys basketball team traveled to Columbus in what became a physical, defensive grudge match between cross-conference foes but came up short, losing 49-43.

New Glarus went into halftime with a one-point lead, and maintained the upper hand for most of the second half. But Columbus closed the gap late in the game, and took the lead with about two minutes left to play.

New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said he was pleased with his team's defensive play.

"It was a physical game," he said. "We had a great defensive effort."

Gavin Binger led the way for the Knights with a team-high 18 points.
