Clinic to offer screenings at multiple locations

MONROE - Monroe Clinic announced pre-participation screening for students, to help address any health issues or injuries that could be corrected during the summer months in preparation for the next sports season.

The cost of the screenings are $20, made payable in cash, credit or check and due at time of screening. Insurance is not billed. Screenings will be held at the following locations:

• Monroe Clinic-Albany - 2 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 23. To schedule a screening, call 608-862-1616.

• Monroe Clinic (Orangeville) - 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 at Orangeville Junior/Senior High School. No appointment necessary.

• Monroe Clinic-Blanchardville - 2 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25. To schedule a screening, call 608-523-4261.

• Monroe Clinic-Freeport Clinic - 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, July 25. To schedule a screening, call 815-235-1406.

• Monroe Clinic-Lena - 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, To schedule a screening, call 815-369-4541.

Pre-participation screenings do not replace complete physicals. To fully address adolescent health issues, incoming ninth grade students are not eligible to receive a pre-participation screening and should receive a full school physical.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and The American Academy of Family Physicians recommend that children and adolescents receive a routine health exam every two years after kindergarten. There are also a variety of state and school requirements for routine and sports physicals.
