WALWORTH - Going into the 2012 season, the biggest question surrounding the Walworth Big Foot High School football team was enrollment.
Would Big Foot's 526 students be enough to bump the Chiefs up to the WIAA Division 3 bracket like last season, or would they stay in Division 4 where they won a state tournament in 2009.
Unfortunately for Brodhead-Juda and the rest of Division 4, the Chiefs stayed in Division 4.
Big Foot jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead over Brodhead-Juda and never looked back en route to a 49-7 victory in a WIAA Division 4 Level 2 battle.
Senior running back Mason Dixon rolled up three touchdowns, while Carter Hehr added a touchdown pass and run to lead the way to another impressive victory.
With the victory, Big Foot advances to face the Lakeside Lutheran in a Level 3 game next week.
With the Chiefs outscoring their two Division 4 playoffs opponents 105-7, it's clear their next opponent is going to face quite a challenge.
"I think last season we kind of got caught up on being bumped up to Division 3," Big Foot coach Rodney Wedig said. "But we said we wanted to be the best team this year and not going to worry about whether we play Wisconsin Lutheran (Division 3 team) or Brodhead."
The determined Chiefs certainly drove this point home against Brodhead-Juda. The Cardinals had an 11-play drive that stalled in a turnover on downs on their first drive. The Chiefs took advantage of the turnover on downs.
Dixon got the onslaught going with an 85-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter.
The Cardinals did all they could to play an effective ball control offense, but Big Foot wouldn't be denied.
Hehr later made it 14-0 with a 48-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
Hehr later fired a 23-yard touchdown pass to Matt Ripkey, while Dixon added another 6-yard touchdown run to put the Chiefs ahead 28-0 at halftime. Dixon had 140 rushing yards in the first half.
"They (Big Foot) are on a roll," Brodhead-Juda coach Jim Matthys said. "They are definitely a team on a mission to win a state championship. I thought we moved the ball really well in the first half and got some yards, but we just made some mistakes."
The Cardinals' mistakes, however, were amplified by Dixon's outstanding evening that was capped by his 48-yard touchdown early in the third.
"This was another huge step for us," Hehr said. "Our starters haven't played a fourth quarter all year and if we keep taking it to teams like this, we'll be fine."
The Chiefs added two more touchdowns including a Brandon Hausner 53-yard run and a Brett Morris 7-yard pass to Steven Schauf that made it 49-0.
Brodhead-Juda finally scored late in the fourth on a Cole Bauman 57-yard touchdown pass, but it was too little too late.
The Cardinals were stuck watching Big Foot celebrate another playoff victory.
