STOUGHTON - The Monroe girls swimming team finished eighth at the Swimmin' Women Relays in Stoughton Tuesday, Sept. 3.
"It was a good night to see what is out there in our own conference, and like we expected, it is tough competition," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "It also is a time for us to explore again what our possibilities are toward the end of the season. The girls took note of some of the top swimmers in our conference to see what they do differently and how they get that edge in the race."
McFarland outdistanced Milton for the team title 166-138.
The Cheesemakers' 100 freestyle relay team of Samantha Hose, Amanda Putz, Haley Kaiser and Angie Beaver finished third with a time of 58:08 seconds.
"That relay is one they all want to swim because each swimmer swims a 25 free," Moser said. "It's something you never get to do in a regular meet."
In the freshman-sophomore 200 freestyle relay, the Cheesemakers' team of Anna Meritt, Grace Moehn, Abby Oudinot and Skylar Lassen took fourth place with a time of 1 minute, 56.44 seconds.
"This meet and the one on Saturday at Janesville Parker allows me to swim girls in many different strokes because they are both relay meets," Moser said. "Relays always bring more excitement for them and it is a great way to start the season."
