MONROE - The Monroe High School wrestling team won 10 matches to roll to a 53-18 dual meet win over Edgerton Tuesday night.

Monroe (6-3, 2-1 Badger South) got pins from sophomore Sam Kind at 138 pounds, senior Ian Salzwedel (152) and junior Hayden Arneson (195). Four Monroe wrestlers, sophomore Dempzy Foley (160), junior Isaac Allen (182), senior Traiten Gorr (220) and junior Kyle Walter (heavyweight), each won by forfeit.

"We were not full strength, but Edgerton is a young and inexperienced team," Monroe coach Tom Witt said. "They (Kind, Salzwedel and Arneson) overmatched their opponents, and I expected that."

Monroe freshman Gabe Witt (106) defeated Edgerton's Daniel Clark 9-0. Monroe junior Cole Murray (132) defeated Edgerton's Andrew Kleiboer in a technical fall 17-0 in 5 minutes, 9 seconds. Kind pinned Edgerton's Cedric Sanders in 3:07. Monroe's Travis Wolf (145) defeated Garrett Ison

7-1.

Salzwedel pinned Trevor Evans in 31 seconds, and Arneson pinned Ben Ruck in 1:34.

Monroe will host Stoughton on Friday.

"We will have our hands full," Witt said. They are stacked from 106 to 160. They are very good and will probably be ranked No. 1 after they finished seventh at the nationally ranked Cheesehead tournament."
