PLATTEVILLE - The Monroe High School girls soccer team got an early goal from sophomore Brynn Ritschard, but Platteville-Lancaster battled back to earn a tie 3-3 in the nonconference game Tuesday.

Ritschard scored a goal 28 seconds into the game.

Platteville-Lancaster's Sami Brookens scored two goals to lead the Hillmen.

"We went into the game overconfident," said Monroe assistant coach Curt Zastrow, who served as head coach with coach Miriam O'Neill missing the game due to an illness. "We scored so quickly, and we got complacent."

Brookens scored her first goal at 33:34 to tie the game at 1. She scored about two minutes later to give Platteville-Lancaster a 2-1 lead.

Monroe sophomore Morgan Seffrood scored on an assist from senior Maddie Kallgren at 41:05 to tie the game at 2.

Kallgren scored a goal on a penalty kick at 88:44 to give the Cheesemakers a 3-2 lead. Platteville-Lancaster's Lydia Murphy scored the game-tying goal off a direct kick with 13 seconds left.

"This game felt like a loss to a lot of the girls," Zastrow said.

Monroe freshman goalie Anna Latimer had 15 saves.
